Figure majeure de la scène artistique contemporaine, Otobong Nkanga déploie une oeuvre nourrie de son histoire et de recherches attentives aux liens entre écologie, mémoire et circulation des ressources. Ses installations, dessins, tapisseries, performances et ses poèmes abordent les tensions entre corps et territoire, extractivisme, héritages coloniaux et formes de réparations possibles. Sensible et politique, son travail invite à penser la matière et les formes du vivant à travers une attention aux relations entre le corps et le territoire, aux déplacements et au soin à porter aux uns et aux autres.

A major figure on the contemporary art scene, Otobong Nkanga has been developing a body of work for over thirty years, drawing inspiration from her history and research focusing on the connections between ecology, memory and the circulation of resources. Her installations, drawings, tapestries, ceramics, videos, photographs, performances and poems deal with the tensions between body and territory, extractivism, colonial legacies and possible approaches to reparations. Both perceptive and political, her work invites us to think about materiality and living forms, paying close attention to the constellations between humans and landscapes, to displacements, and to taking care of people as well as the Earth.

Illustrated with over two hundred works from the 1990s until today, this catalogue captures her vibrant universe interwoven with memory, sharing and transformation, offering multiple pathways for inhabiting the world differently.
